Based on real life events that overtook both Cuba and the United States, From Amigos to Friends charts the rude awakening from innocence and leisure that transforms the lives of three boys at the onset of the Cuban Revolution.

Of the three, David is the most level-headed, until he is separated from his parents. Charming and good-looking, Carlos is the first to discover that girls are not from a different planet. Luis’ recklessness always drives the trio a step beyond the rest of their friends. All three pledged to be inseparable amigos, but it is not meant to be.

Born into varying degrees of wealth and poverty, the three friends witness the disruption of their lives as their families are uprooted. Amid the revolutionary upheaval, they forge the transition form youthful pranks to adult responsibilities, learning to survive as exiles and refugees.
